Gard Funeral Home Obituaries

Gard Funeral Home, established in 1983, offers families one-stop shopping when planning the service of their loved ones. In addition to having its crematory on site, Gard Funeral Home also provides immediate burial.

Funeral homes must abide by the Funeral Rule, which stipulates they provide consumers with accurate price details over the phone and, specifically for funeral services, transparent pricing information to prevent being misled or taken advantage of during an already distressing time.

Obituaries

Greg was born in Kirkersville and lived his entire life there. He served in the US Navy for 20 years and was also an active member of VFW. Greg enjoyed hunting, fishing outdoors, and spending time with family, particularly his grandchildren. Additionally, he enjoyed traveling. Besides, Greg belonged to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints; we will miss him greatly.

Vensil & Chute Funeral Home will hold services at its Newark Chapel on August 25, with Pastor Amanda Olson officiating, followed by burial at Oak Hill Cemetery.

General Price List (GPL)

At times of grief and emotion, consumers can be susceptible to being duped or exploited. To protect consumers’ interests, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and the New York State Department of Health require funeral homes to disclose prices clearly in a General Price List or via telephone upon request.

GPLs should provide a complete description of all merchandise and services regularly offered by funeral firms, such as casket prices and outer interment receptacle costs. Package prices for direct burial must also be identified – such as transfer of remains to the cemetery by livery service as well as fees charged by funeral directors/staff to transport directly to the cemetery; or when the package doesn’t include a casket, an indication should be included that carriage and cemetery charges will be additional – in such cases.

GPL must also disclose the total price of a traditional funeral, which includes caskets, urns, and merchandise purchased from funeral homes. This figure must be expressed as a flat fee for miles traveled or within an estimated geographic zone; any number or boundaries must immediately adjoin this price. Also disclosed should be acknowledgment cards, catering services, food, and nonalcoholic beverages offered regularly by funeral firms, and any additional merchandise or services routinely provided by them.

Preparing a Funeral

As part of planning a funeral, there are various elements to remember. First is choosing what service you would like, then acquiring a casket, burial site, and location for the ceremony. Other considerations should include music you want to be played at the service as well as who will give a welcome and reading, an open mic where friends and family members can speak about memories of the deceased, a photo slideshow or video tribute presentation, and any necessary services or refreshments that may be included as part of it all.

Leaving instructions in a will or pre-arrangement funeral plans can simplify this process, but if they do not, you will need to sit down with loved ones and discuss their wishes – an uncomfortable discussion but necessary for those left behind not to have to make decisions upon your death.

Once all funeral arrangements have been finalized, your family will receive an order of service booklet – this printed booklet will be distributed at both services and to anyone unable to attend. Typically, it features a photo of the deceased on its front cover along with their full name, date of birth, and an inspirational quote or message; inside, it features speakers’ details and schedule of events/services information along with any personal messages from family.

Before making final arrangements, speaking with an experienced funeral director is wise. He or she can explain your options and assist in selecting what fits you best while informing you if additional costs exist that were not previously included in your plans. Girton Schmidt Boucher Gard Funeral Home follows the Funeral Rule, which mandates they provide price details by phone upon request to prevent deceptive practices during this challenging time for consumers.

On April 29th, Girton Schmidt Boucher Gard Funeral Home hosted a groundbreaking ceremony to mark the commencement of construction for a cremation unit. Owner Ron Gard says it will help families who choose cremation as an option for their loved ones and hopes that it will be fully functional by early summer 2022.

Gard graduated from Watkins Memorial High School and Ohio University before working at Schone Chiropractic Center and Southwest Licking Schools as an Assistant Chiropractor’s Assistant and Teacher Aide aide. Her family was paramount to her; they will miss her greatly.

Garry is left to remember his beloved wife: Daisy Gard (Neil D Sidocky) and Greta Gard-Barger are survivors. Sydney Crozier and Katelyn Crozier will forever remain treasured memories; Emma Gard-Perrotta and Wren Gard-Barger make for great-grandchildren; her sisters Lena McDougale and Ellen Kaufman will always remain close, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

If you have any inquiries, don’t hesitate to contact the funeral home directly or visit their website – we are always here to help in any way possible! For questions regarding pricing, be aware that the Federal Trade Commission mandates that all funeral homes provide consumers with clear and accurate price information. So, requesting the General Price List from each funeral home will give a breakdown of all the costs of arranging services.
